2. If you were uneployed would you contact an agency which could help you find a job?

Depends what you are looking at… I think that there are various reasons why people can’t find a job. If it comes to young people the main reason will be for sure lack of experience… Employers often assume that young person can’t do the job without experience plus they will have to spend long time on couching the person before he/she will be able to perform to the required standards. Secondly young people often don’t really know what they want to apply for any job just to have it, without the knowledge and any real interest in the position the apply for, it is unlikely they will be successful. Sometimes people come across as bossy with strong opinions and for those who are interviewing such person it isn’t a good sign. There is a threat that person like that won’t listen to his/ her’s manager and will cause more trouble than good, which will obviously cost company money and time,unnecessarily. People also don’t believe in themselves or opposite believe that are better then others and any of these isn’t good. I think that finding a (right) job can take a lot of time and all we can do to improve our chances is to better ourselves and stop moaning (especially if you already have a job; don’t like it-change it!). And then maybe more of us will be happy

I think that unemployment is mainly due to the economic recession that we are going through, a lot of people are being fired because companies have many debts, they can’t afford having that much employees anymore… No one is really to blame…

The Credit crunch is certainly one of the causes of the increase of unemployment but we can not neglect that there are people to blame, the recession did not just appear! for example in the USA, many people asked for loans (to buy houses) at their banks and they received them even when the banks knew they will may not be able to repay, each year the interest of their loans increased it came to a point where no one could repay anymore, That is when the banks decided to take the houses, the banks had too many houses and no buyers (obviously everyone had money problems!), so the prices of the houses decreased considerably and the bank has gone to bankrupt. US banks had to ask Europeans banks for money, European banks have never been repayed by US banks so they can not lend money to companies, companies can then not create more jobs for people, that creates unemployment! Basically everyone is now suffering from the banks mistake…

I think the problem lies within both the people themself and “the way of the world”. Attitude towards working or taking on “random” work, combined with the economic crisis and the businesses needing to cut down in budgets, creates a far larger unemployment rate than ever.

Seems like people kind of loose faith in getting a job, blaiming their umenployment on the credit crunch as well. Personally know 3 cases where unemplyed “friends” of mine just blame it on the job market and how hard it is, while they easily could have taken a less study related job to support themselfs while looking.

Marta, I will look more into this subject and get back to you, as I actually feel a bit clueless about why it is the way it is at the moment;)
